It’s not very often that I feel like I want to create a portrait piece, people aren’t usually my thing! I was really inspired to see how this one would turn out with this soft pastel look though, plus double exposure vibes too. It’s fun to experiment and just see what comes out of it all!

Another tarot-inspired collage today, this one is a blend of The Moon and The Two of Swords, together I feel they make a charm against being scared of making the wrong decision. Something I can struggle with a lot. I’ve been really enjoying making these collages and I’ll have more to share soon!

A slightly more dreamy illustration for today! I’ve found the idea of depicting movement and translucency in illustration to be quite interesting lately.

Like I mentioned in my last post, recently I’ve spent a little bit of time making collages centred around the same piece of art. It was a really fun exercise and I particularly loved working with this piece, I can definitely see myself playing around with this idea again!

Over the last few days I’ve been really enjoying making collages centred around the same piece of art, it’s a fun experiment of reimagining to see what different things I can say with just one focal piece. For this time I have been using “Buddha’s Flowers; Lotus, Tokyo” by Theodore Wore in 1894.

I’m still in the midst of creating all the different pieces, but I was really happy with how this Queen of Hearts collage piece came out. I started by cutting out all of the lily pads and flowers, then arranging them to all sit close to each other. Then taking an old Queen of Hearts playing card, I cut out the central figure to allow the lily pads to show through as her body.

I matched the Queen of Hearts to these lily pads because I’ve been reading tarot for over 10 years, and lily pads always remind me of the Queen of Cups, which is the tarot-equivalent of the Queen of Hearts.
